Do I need a domain name for my Virtual Server? Print

Yes, you will need to enter in a domain name for your Virtual Server.

When ordering your new Virtual Server with us, you can select one of the three options for your domain name preference.

  1. Register a new domain
This option allows for you to register a new domain name with us if you do not already have a domain name to use.

  2. Transfer your domain from another registrar
This option lets you transfer your domain name from your current registrar to us.  This will help you to manage all of your I.T. services in one portal.

  3. I already have a domain name and will update my name servers later on
If you might be using a external DNS provider, you can select this option and use the IP address information in our provisioning email to update your DNS records.

If you are not needing to register or transfer a domain name with us, we would recommend selecting option three.  The domain name will be used to complete the provisioning of your virtual server, applying itself as part of your servers hostname.
